Neste estudo, cromatografia de exclusão por tamanho (SEC) com detecção por UV e detecção off-line por espectrometria de absorção atômica em forno de grafite (GF AAS) foi usada para investigar a associação de cobre a espécies de alta massa molecular (HMW) e baixa massa molecular (LMW) presentes na polpa de açaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.). A concentração total de cobre obtida nos digeridos da polpa de açaí foi 10,5 µg g-1. Cobre foi encontrado associado às frações de HMW e LMW, correspondentes às massas moleculares de 28,7, 2,6 e 0,43 kDa.

In this study, size exclusion chromatography (SEC) with ultraviolet (UV) and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS) off-line detection was used to investigate the association of copper to high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW) species present in Euterpe oleracea Mart. pulp. Total concentration of copper was 10.5 µg g-1. Copper was found to be associated to fractions corresponding to 28.7, 2.6 and 0.43 kDa.

Padrões de dispersão de nutrientes em terra preta Amazônica (TPA) podem dar informações sobre atividades antrópicas dos habitantes da Amazônia. Estudos sobre pH, fósforo disponível (P), matéria orgânica (MO) e os cátions trocáveis, Ca2+ e Mg2+, foram realizados em amostras de solos dos horizontes A1 e A2 ao longo de uma área com TPA (norte-sul e leste-oeste) em um sítio arqueológico denominado Ilha de Terra, na Unidade de Conservação Floresta Nacional de Caxiuanã, Município de Melgaço, Brasil. Os resultados indicaram que a MO e o Ca são os que apresentam maior dispersão. Correlações mais elevadas foram encontradas entre OM-Ca-Mg às proximidades da área central e levam a inferir que a dispersão geoquímica de MO, Ca, Mg e P em sítios arqueológicos com TPA está relacionada com atividades humanas pregressas.

Dispersion of nutrients in Amazonian black earth (ABE) can provide information on human activities of the inhabitants of the Amazon region. Studies on the pH, available phosphorus (P), organic matter (OM) and the exchangeable cations Ca2 + and Mg2 + were performed on soil samples from horizons A1 and A2 over an area with TPA (north-south and east-west) at a site called Ilha de Terra, located in the Conservation Unit Caxiuanã National Forest, Melgaço County, Brazil. The results indicated that the OM and Ca2+ are the ones with greater dispersion. Higher correlations were found between OM-Ca-Mg to near the central area. This leads to the inference that the dispersion geochemistry of MO, Ca, Mg and P in archaeological sites with TPA is related to past human activities.

As plantas medicinais podem ser usadas como fontes alternativas de nutrientes minerais na dieta alimentar. Elementos como ferro, manganês e zinco apresentam biodisponibilidade variável em função de suas formas químicas (espécies) presentes em um alimento. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o teor e a biodisponibilidade de ferro, manganês e zinco em extratos da casca do fruto e das folhas de Caesalpinia ferrea Martius por Espectrometria de Absorção Atômica com Chama (FAAS). Os agentes extratores testados foram as soluções de NaOH 0,05 mol. L-1, tampão Tris-HCl 0,05 mol.L-1 (pH= 8), tampão Tris-HCl 0,05 mol.L-1 (pH = 8) em dodecil sulfato de sódio (SDS) 1% (m/v), HCl 0,05 mol.L-1 e água quente (60 ºC). A casca do fruto e as folhas de Caesalpinia ferrea Martius apresentaram níveis altos de ferro e manganês quando comparados aos de outras plantas medicinais. Os elementos estudados mostraram predominante associação com compostos de alta e baixa massa molecular, espécies solúveis e insolúveis em água. Dentre os elementos analisados, o ferro apresentou melhor biodisponibilidade na casca do fruto e nas folhas. Manganês e zinco se mostraram mais biodisponível nas folhas. A casca do fruto e as folhas de Caesalpinia ferrea Martius podem ser uma fonte alternativa de ferro, manganês e zinco na dieta alimentar.

Medicinal plants can be used as alternative sources of mineral nutrients in the alimentary diet. Elements such as iron, manganese, and zinc present variable bioavailability due to their chemical form (species) present in foods. This work has the objective of evaluating the concentration and bioavailability of iron, manganese, and zinc in extracts of the peel and leaves of Caesalpinia ferrea Martius by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). The extraction agents tested were 0.05 mol.L-1 NaOH, 0.05 mol.L-1 Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0), 0.05 mol.L-1 Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0) containing 1% (m/v) sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), 0.05 mol.L-1 HCl, and hot water at 60 ºC. The peel and leaves of Caesalpinia ferrea Martius presented higher levels of iron and manganese when compared to other medicinal plants. The elements studied showed predominant association with compounds of high and low molecular weight and soluble and insoluble species in water. Among the analyzed elements, the iron presented the best bioavailability in the peel and leaves of the fruit. Manganese and zinc presented higher bioavailability in the leaves. The peel and leaves of Caesalpinia ferrea Martius can be an alternative source of iron, manganese, and zinc in the alimentary diet.
